Video Two: In Remembrance

Good afternoon, everyone. For those of you hailing from different planets, today is a federal holiday in America called Memorial Day.

As Captain Rogers has already aptly mentioned, today we take the time to remember the sacrifices of our men and women in the armed forces. I suspect that is a sentiment that isn't limited to my country or planet alone. Those of you who would like to are welcome to join me on the deck at 7, for a small candle lighting ceremony and a moment of silence.

[He doesn't mean to disrespect, especially since this is important to Kay. But...]

Gallifrey doesn't have an army or a tradition of forming an army in times of strife. A lot of people died in the civil war, but none of them were soldiers.

[He's not really angry at Steve or Leslie or the concept of Memorial Day, he's angry because it's reminding him of the war that tore Gallifrey apart and in the end seemed to count for nothing. But he can't explain that to Steve or Leslie--it's too personal--so he ends up lashing out irritably instead. So he's trying to explain to Kay in his somewhat emotionally-fail way.]

A lot of the soldiers that died during the American Civil War didn't start out as soldiers. And the draft was still in place then- a lot had to fight against their will. Remembering them was a little bit of a big deal because they might not have even wanted to be a part of it.

But the US also has a day for celebrating mothers and for fathers and for the day their Declaration of Independence was signed. They're just days for a lot of people to appreciate an idea together.

[Between Leslie's history lesson and Kay's explanation, he's starting to warm to the idea a little more. Less angry and more sad. Many of Pandora's supporters had fought against their will because their free will had been taken from them by her psychic virus.]

Since coming to the Barge, he's gotten into a lot of bad habits. Narvin gets to find out more about him willingly than very few people ever have. But he has taken to mentioning stuff he normally wouldn't and/or not neuralyzing people after he tells them. It's a difficult thing, but he knows that he shouldn't celebrate memorial day for how he sees it.]

I'll just be doing the moment of silence myself, but that would be good of you.
